Professor Higham

Courses

ANTH 104 Human Evolution and World Prehistory
ANTH 203 The Archaeology of East and Southeast Asia

Projects

My principal current project, “The Origins of Angkor”, examines the prehistoric cultural sequence in Northeast Thailand in order to illuminate the nature of the prehistoric communities there and model state formation. This is based on excavations at the sites of Ban Lum Khao, Noen U-Loke, Non Muang Kao and Ban Non Wat.

I am also a member of a research project in collaboration with the University of Durham to identify through isotopes in human teeth, the origins of individuals whose burials have been excavated at the above sites, and with the University of Sydney, the origins of Iron Age individuals in Cambodian Iron Age sites.
