New Zealand undergraduate
You should enrol at the University of Otago following the steps outlined at http://www.otago.ac.nz/study/enrolling.html
If you have specific questions about our courses after viewing the information on our website (use the links on the left of this page) then you should contact the following course advisers:
- 100-level: Assoc. Prof. Daphne Lee
- 200-level: Assoc. Prof. Ewan Fordyce, Dr Candace Martin
- 300-level: Assoc. Prof. James White
- 400-level: Dr Michael Palin
These staff can advise you about course-related matters during the academic year. If you cannot contact one of the advisers immediately (for example, a staff member may be in the field or on leave), then contact our Academic Administrator.

If you cannot contact the staff member immediately (for example, staff may be in the field or on leave), then contact our Academic Administrator. You may be eligible for geology scholarships so be sure to see what scholarships and positions are currently available.

International undergraduate
We welcome international students to our department and usually host 20-30 undergraduates during each year. Once you have had a good look around our website (especially our international student information page) to see what papers, field schools and degrees we offer you should visit the International section of the main University of Otago website. If you have specific questions about courses, email or otherwise contact the coordinating adviser for Geology - Professor Richard J Norris and also send a copy of your email to our Academic Administrator.
International postgraduate
We host a number of international postgraduates in most years and we are always keen to host more students who would like to complete a degree in a geology department with an excellent international reputation. Before deciding to come to Otago you should visit our research section and see what the research interests of our staff are. You should then contact the appropriate staff member directly and also send a copy of your email to our Academic Administrator. You will need to apply for admission to the University of Otago via the international section.
Once you have decided that you would like to come to Otago you will need to find funding to pay your international fees. You may be eligable for geology department scholarships or for more general University of Otago international scholarships.
As of 2006 there are no longer any foreign fees for PhD study in New Zealand so that you pay the same as local PhD students!

From 2006 there will no longer be any foreign fees for PhD study in New Zealand so that you pay the same as local students if you are studying towards a PhD.
