Theses information and maps (OU-geology)

On this page information about PhD, MSc, BSc(Hons) and PGDipSci theses completed at the Geology Department, University of Otago are provided in a variety of file formats for download.
A unique identifier is used for each thesis which is a combination of the year it was written, the type of project and a unique number for each thesis written in that year (e.g. 1998phd9).
Access to theses
Access to these theses is available via the university library (http://www.library.otago.ac.nz/index.php) or the geology department thesis library, Room 1n16, geology building (contact: geology@otago.ac.nz, ph + 64 3 479 7519).
Important information
Please note the following:
- Not all theses are located in the nz map area.
- Not all theses locations are on the maps.
- Theses locations are indicated by a single dot only, whereas some theses cover more than one area.
- This is a preliminary map, made with the currently available data. Improvements to this map are underway.
- These are unpublished theses and are variable in quality and content.
Download theses information and maps
Theses information and maps are provided in a variety of file formats to suit many applications. The downloads have been categorised here according to the ways in which they can be searched. The spatial search only format (kml) may be complemented by either of the data only searchable formats (.txt, .xls). Use command (mac) or Ctrl (windows, linux) + F to bring up a standard search box in most programs.

Once unzipped this folder contains a single esri shapefile with associated auxiliary files (.dbf etc.).

This file may be viewed/searched directly in the internet browser or downloaded by right clicking (or Control clicking on some macs) on the file and selecting save link as. - Microsoft excel Spreadsheet (.xls)

Spatial search only format
- Keyhole markup language (native google earth format) (.kml)

This file can be searched spatially or according to the ou_geol_thesis_id field (labels). This will allow correlation with the data only searchable file formats (.txt, .xls).
