Abbey College is the University of Otago's dedicated accommodation for postgraduate and graduate students, and the only residential college of its kind in New Zealand.
Our residents enjoy an independent lifestyle within a purpose-designed academic community, just a few minutes walk from the University.
Abbey College is primarily for postgraduate students seeking long-term, convenient and collegial accommodation while they are studying in Dunedin.
Good News for students on a University of Otago PhD scholarship
On 23 November 2011 the University Council approved an increase of $5,000 per annum to the stipend of doctoral scholarships from 1 January 2012. The annual value of the scholarship, excluding tuition fees, will therefore be $25,000.
In addition Abbey College residents on a University of Otago PhD scholarship receive a discount of $1000 per year pro-rated for the duration of their stay at the College.
