Originally a hotel/motel complex Abbey College has been refurbished to set quality standards in comfortable and spacious accommodation. It features many warm and inviting social and leisure spaces and provides for the needs of individual study.

West Block Common Room with small kitchen facility
Complimenting the Common Room is the TV Room in the West Block. Residents make use of the small kitchen for birthdays , cultural dinners for friends and pot-luck dinners.
The Meeting Room is multi functional. It is sometimes used for meetings, otherwise it becomes another option as a quiet space for study.
The university's wireless system (including intranet and web access) is available throughout the College, including all rooms. The cost of access is according to University of Otago charges (currently free).
All bedrooms have hardwired access to the university network with internet connectivity.
The fully equipped laundry is accessible at all times to residents. Its use is free of charge.
All communal facilities at Abbey Lodge have wheelchair access. There are three Studio Rooms with full wheelchair mobility and other facilities for students with disabilities.
A car is not essential at Abbey College because the University is an eight minutes' walk away, but for residents who choose to have one there is access to secure outdoor parking on site at a cost of $13.50 per week.
Cycling is a popular way to get around campus and to enjoy the outdoors. Secure bicycle storage protects bikes from inclement weather and is provided free of charge.
Abbey College is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its residents who find the swipe card entry and exit system through our security gates easy to manage.
Smoke Free Site
To ensure a healthy and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors, Abbey College buildings and grounds are designated smoke free.
Residents are welcome to bring visitors to the College and, with prior notice, they can join you for a meal at a small fee.
