Centre for Accounting and Finance Education (CAFÉ)

The Centre for Accounting and Finance Education (CAFÉ) offers University of Otago Department of Accountancy and Finance's students many opportunities to build upon their degree.  You will have the opportunity to meet guest speakers from the business sector, participate on the international student exchange programme and experience studying and living abroad, or the opportunity to test your understanding of your course material through paid or voluntary work-based experiences or through student competitions.

2017 CAFÉ Executive in Residence

From 22 - 24 March 2017 Antonia Watson was the Centre's Executive in Residence.

During Antonia's time within Otago's Department of Accountancy & Finance she met with staff and students, spoke in FINC 304 and BSNS 115 lectures, plus presented a guest lecture entitled "Digital banking and Customer Experience" as part of the Business School's Visiting Executive Programme (VEP) seminar series.

She also recorded a short video (below) giving insight into her time at Otago, the various roles she's had since graduating, and give current students and graduates tips of creating a success career.

Bio:

Antonia ANZ New Zealand Ltd's Managing Director, Retail & Business Banking and is responsible for 2 million Retail and Small Business customers served by our branch network and contact centres.

Prior to accepting this role in December 2016, Antonia was ANZ New Zealand’s Chief Financial Officer for four years and prior to that she ANZ New Zealand’s Financial Controller for three years. Antonia has also worked for Morgan Stanley in Hungary where she was General Manager of their business services and technology centre that served North America and Europe. Antonia also worked for Morgan Stanley in Sydney and London in various finance roles. Antonia qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG NZ.

Antonia graduated BCom (Hons) in Accounting from the University of Otago in 1992 and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She is also a member of Global Women.
