Dr Carolyn Stringer is a Senior Lecturer and holds an MBus and BBus(Hons), both in Accounting, from Monash University, Melbourne and a PhD from University of Otago. She is a Fellow of Certified Practicising Accountants (Australia) and is on the NZ Branch Council for CPA. Carolyn is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA).
She has extensive teaching experience, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels in New Zealand, Australia and Hong Kong. Her teaching is across all levels in the management accounting area.
Carolyn's current research is in the area of performance management and involves case studies, surveys and archival research focusing on the operation of the holistic performance management framework, showing the links and inter-dependencies. She has published in international journals including British Accounting Review, Accounting Education: an International Journal and Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management (see list below).
She was one of the Conference Chairs organising The Sixth International Conference on Theory and Practice in Performance Measurement held at the University of Otago in April, 2009. This was a unique inter-disciplinary and international forum for the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and research about organizational performance measurement and management within both the public and private sectors between practitioners and academics.

Performance management including the balanced scorecard, EVA, performance measurement, target setting, performance evaluation, incentive systems, risk management and governance issues.
