Financial Services Training
The financial training modules provided by Financial Services cover all aspects and levels of financial administration and financial management to assist University staff members in their respective financial administration roles. The modules are designed to be informal with examples, exercises and open discussion, and FSD will be pleased to receive feedback from staff.
Training modules are scheduled throughout the year and presenters are able to provide one-off sessions for departmental requests, or one-on-one sessions when the need arises.

Higher Education Development Centre (HEDC)
HEDC assists the University community to maintain and improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching and other professional and academic activities. As well as professional and leadership development for academic staff, HEDC provides services for the evaluation of teaching, development of educational media and student learning assistance.

Human Resources Training and Development Programme
General Programme
The general programme covers basic skills which are essential for the professional development of general staff, and complements the more specialised training delivered by ITS and Financial Services.
Key Skills for Managers and Supervisors
A series of courses designed to assist supervisors to manage as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Women's Professional Development Programme (HEDC and Human Resources)
A limited number of courses, open to both general and academic staff, aimed at encouraging and supporting the professional development of women within the University.

ITS Computer Training
Information Technology Services (ITS) offers computer training in Microsoft Office, Desk Top Publishing and Graphics, Internet courses (Web Surfing, Web page design and Email) and EndNote. We also offer technical courses such as MCSE, CNA and A+, and testing for MOUS and Prometric exams.
Blackboard Training
Information Technology Services (ITS) Training offers Blackboard training. Blackboard is a web-based environment which tutors can use to enhance their on-campus and distance papers by dellivering course materials, class discussions, assignments and assessments on line.

Occupational Health & Safety Training
These programmes are available to all staff members, some free and others with a small fee.
Topics include: First Aid Training, Computer Health and Safety, Fire Wardens, Back Care, Laboratory Health and Safety.

Study Assistance
The University supports the professional development of staff by granting various levels of fees subsidy and time to attend classes for staff who wish to study both internally and externally. Certain conditions apply.
Professional Development Review for General Staff
The annual Professional Development Review gives general staff an opportunity to discuss and plan their professional development with their manager/supervisor on a confidential basis.
