The four recipients of University of Otago Teaching Excellence Awards for 2017 were formally congratulated at a ceremony at the Clocktower building yesterday afternoon.
Anatomy Teaching Fellow Dr Bradley Hurren, Teaching Fellow in Languages and Cultures Ms Haruko Stuart, Associate Professor Ruth Fitzgerald of Anthropology and Archaeology and Associate Professor Michelle Thompson-Fawcett of Geography were each recognised for their dedication to teaching.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Vernon Squire presented the awards to the recipients, in front of their colleagues and families yesterday.
“We value our teachers, and this is one way that we show how much the University appreciates their effort and dedication, as inspiration to both students and their colleagues,” he says.
The annual teaching awards have been held since 2002.
