The following pages present
both the notes taken during the excavation of Non Muang Kao and the planviews
from the excavation. It is possible to proceed downward through the layers
of the site by clicking on the trowel. To view the previous layer, click
the ladder. Clicking on the planview itself will take you to the appropriate
section in the site notes.
The field notes are from two seasons of excavation. There may be errors and the style may leave something to be desired, but this is a direct transcription as the investigators wrote them. There are hyperlinks to the plans of the excavation. It is hoped that the virtual excavation will be a useful teaching aid but the main purpose of this presentation is to provide accountability in our research. Although we will present our findings in a proper publication, this site is open for interpretation. Too often in archaeological research the raw data is not presented.
