Career Opportunities

When you are deciding on a major subject for your degree, it is usual to consider the sorts of career opportunities that the subject will afford. Students who choose to major in one of the Department's two programmes typically find that the qualifications they gain and their experiences during study provide them with a great range of skills appropriate to numerous kinds of employment. To find out more about the sorts of careers graduates from our programmes enter into, please follow the links below to the individual programme pages:

Jobs in the Department

The Department employs graduate students as tutors and laboratory demonstrators for many of its courses. Applications for these jobs are usually considered at the beginning of every year. Candidates need to send a letter of application and a CV to the Department when specific jobs are advertised. Jobs are posted on Department notice boards, are listed with Student Job Search, and are posted to the Postgraduate student email list at the end of the year.

Other jobs in the Department are advertised on the University of Otago Vacancies website when positions become available. They will also be posted in the News section of this website.
