About Us
Located in University of Otago house on the main street of New Zealand's largest city, Auckland Centre is the focal point of the University's Auckland presence, providing a resource and information centre for current and prospective Otago students.
Auckland Centre hosts a variety of postgraduate Distance Learning courses (including Academic, Religious and Health Sciences programmes), a selection of Summer School papers during January/February, an annual public Winter Lecture series as well as general information sessions throughout the year.
The Auckland Centre is the base for the University's northern area Schools' Liaison Service which provide support and advice to prospective and returning students, including access to the University's library database and computer network.
The facilities are available to Otago staff, who are encouraged to use the Centre as a venue for hosting courses, meetings and other events.
The Centre's teaching and meeting rooms can be hired by non-university organisations on a casual basis. Please click on this link for information regarding avaliable facilities:
Programmes and resources available at the Centre include:
- A Schools' Liaison Service covering the central and upper North Island. The University's Māori Liaison Officer is also based in Auckland.
- University of Otago Distance Learning programmes.
- The Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics (Department of Human Nutrition) supported by the presence of a fulltime tutor at the Centre.
- The Auckland office of the Centre for Research on Children and Families.
- The role of the Enterprise Office is to build linkages between the University and the business community in Auckland, working primarily with the Biotech, Food, ICT, Energy and Service sectors.
A body of contemporary art works is on display from the University's Hocken Collections, one of New Zealand's foremost research libraries. - A mid city facility at which Otago's many Auckland alumni can meet. Please visit the University of Otago alumni website.
