Copy/Move Function Not Working
The function which allows you to copy or move folders and files within and between Blackboard is currently not available, due to problems with the tool.
To copy content between two papers, you can “Export” sections of your paper, and then “Import” these into other papers – for example, you could move your entire “Course Documents” area. To do this:
- In the “Control Panel” section of your menu, click on “Packages and Utilities”.
- Click “Export/Archive Course”.
- Click “Export”.
- Select the course materials you wish to export by ticking the box beside their names.
- Click Submit.
- Wait for Blackboard to send you an email confirming that it’s been exported.
- Navigate back to the Export page – Packages and Utilities, then Export/Archive Course, then Export.
- Right-click on the link to the export package and save it to your computer.
- Go to the paper you wish to import the content to.
- Click “Import Package/View Logs”, then “Import Package”.
- Click on “Choose file”, locate the zip file on your computer that you downloaded earlier and double-click it to select it.
- Click “Content Areas” in the “Select Course Materials” list.
- Click Submit.
- Wait until Blackboard emails you, then check that the content has imported correctly by navigating to it in your course menu.
In a small number of cases we have noticed that a section will not export correctly – you will notice that the zip file that you download is very small (around 50kb). if this happens, and exporting it a second time does not work, please contact the HelpDesk and we would be happy to help.
