Fri, 12 Aug 2011 18:02:11 GMTThis is a reminder that the SafeAssign service will be unavailable on Saturday August 13,2011 from 8:00 AM US Eastern (GMT -4) until Saturday August 13, 2011 at 11:59 PM US Eastern (GMT-4). SafeAssign is being taken offline for a very important hardware upgrade. Upon completion of this upgrade, the RSS feed will be updated to indicate SafeAssign is back online and available. Below are the details of the previous communication on this maintenance window.Detail on the SafeAssign Maintenance Window:During this downtime Blackboard will upgrade all SafeAssign hardware and failover systems. As a result, SafeAssign will have improved performance, improved monitoring, and additional flexibility to quickly add processing power. We are nearing our busiest processing period of the year (October – November), and putting this new environment and capabilities in place will deliver an improved experience.During this outage SafeAssign will be unavailable. End-users will not be able to submit papers through SafeAssign during the planned downtime and will receive an error message if they attempt to do so. SafeAssign Originality Reports will not be available to Instructors or Students during the planned downtime, nor will Instructors be able to access SafeAssign DirectSubmit. Please make end-users aware of these limitations. Use of SafeAssign can continue as normal after the planned downtime and hardware upgrade are complete. Also, after the SafeAssign hardware upgrade, a restart of your Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Learn Vista Edition, or Blackboard Learn CE Edition system will be necessary at some point in the upcoming weeks. The restart is required to clear the old SafeAssign IP addresses from your learning management system's Java Virtual Machine cache. This restart must take place by Tuesday, September 6, 2011, for SafeAssign to continue processing papers submitted from your institution. We are preparing a Support Bulletin that will address these items in more detail.
