When to recruit?

Timing of recruitment is important, as high achieving students are very focused on exams and assignments. We recommend that you factor these dates into your recruitment plans for the best recruitment outcomes.

The academic year at Otago has two semesters.

Otago's career expos

Career expos are a great way to meet students and for them to meet you – on campus. We select busy student areas as venues for these events, ensuring maximum student traffic. Our fairs and expos are open to all Otago students, so you can recruit this year's graduates – and raise your profile with future graduates.

Employer events at Otago

Talk to students directly about your recruitment, and your brand, at an employer event. This could be an information session about your organisation and recruitment process, a networking function, employer-led masterclass or a hackathon.

An employer event can be held during the day or evening. We will ensure that your visit to Otago is as successful as possible and maximises your time here, and that the event does not clash with relevant classes or exams. We recommend evening presentations start after 5pm. Otago has campus based catering facilities if you wish to have refreshments at the presentation.

All lecture venues are fully AV equipped with computers (both Macs and PCs) and data projectors, and are supported by technical IT staff. For presentations held outside lecture theatre venues, we can arrange for AV equipment and support staff.

Please contact graduate.recruitment@otago.ac.nz to book a presentation slot.

Guest lecturing

We can connect you with relevant departments to run a guest lecture. As a guest lecturer, you will have the opportunity to showcase your industry expertise and to engage with students who may aspire to start a career in your field after they graduate.

Contact us for further information, and we can facilitate with the department.
