Pacific Edge Biotechnology Limited (PEBL) is a Dunedin, New Zealand, based biomedical company developing and commercialising technology for cancer detection and management. There is a clear, as yet unmet, medical need for earlier detection of cancer. Therefore we are developing simple-to-use, highly accurate, diagnostic and monitoring tools for the early detection, diagnosis, characterisation and management of cancers. These tools use multiple biomarkers, which is a novel approach.
Pacific Edge currently has three tools that we expect to enter clinical trials in 2006, specifically, early detection of bladder cancer, monitoring for recurrence of bladder cancer and a prognostic tool for colorectal cancer. There are also a further three tools in development and two more in evaluation. These products are designed to provide clinicians with the ability to diagnose and monitor bladder, colorectal, gastric, melanoma, endometrial and prostate cancers.
