Māori/Indigenous Health Institute (MIHI)

The opening of the Māori/Indigenous Health Institute (MIHI) represents a major milestone in the development of Māori-focused teaching and research at the University of Otago, Christchurch.

The institute is dedicated to the memory of Irihapeti Ramsden, who made a considerable contribution to Māori health.

The institute’s main activities include:

In addition to the above, all clinical staff within MIHI will continue to practise clinically within the community as part of their role with the institute.
