The Canterbury Medical Library is the main provider of library and health information services for the University of Otago, Christchurch (UOC) and Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB).
The University of Otago manages the Library on behalf of the two organisations and costs are shared.
A joint working group comprising Dr Matthew Reid (CDHB) and Dr Jenny Jordan (UOC) has been set up to consult with users of the libraries and synthesise information from both organisations, reporting back to Prof David Murdoch, Dean of UOC and Dr Sue Nightingale, Chief Medical Officer CDHB.
The purpose of this working group is to identify the medium term library service needs and usage for UOC and CDHB, and the key issues that need to be addressed in order to have a shared management and cost structure.
This information will help ensure these services are fit for purpose and will also inform decisions about cost sharing arrangements between the two organisations.
