Biostatistics
About Biostatistics Consultancy
Biostatistical consultancy involves advice on study design, methodology, computer software, data analysis and preparation, and revision of articles and reports. The biostatisticians can also act as collaborators during research analysis or on long term studies, and provide training in statistical methods.
There is no charge for consultation services provided by biostatistical consultancy staff for students and members of staff of the School and the Canterbury District Health Board. However biostatistical work should be costed as part of research grant applications. Priority will be given to grants on which biostatisticians are named and to grants bringing in overheads.
Researchers in Medicine and Psychological Medicine should contact Chris Frampton and other researchers should contact Elisabeth Wells or John Pearson.
Research students who will require biostatistical advice are encouraged to consult a biostatistician early. The first meeting should be with their primary supervisor (other supervisors are also welcome).
For appointments with a biostatistician other than Chris Frampton, contact Stephen Sharp with:
- Student name,
- supervisors' names,
- departments,
- programme in which enrolled,
- title/subject area of research, and
- possible times to meet.
Each student will be allocated to Elisabeth Wells or John Pearson depending on their workloads and the statistical expertise required for the project.
Registrars who will require biostatistical advice are also encouraged to consult a biostatistician early. The first meeting should be with their supervisor.
