Overview

Registered nurses who are studying towards designated prescriber–registered nurse are required to undertake this programme of study

A Postgraduate Diploma comprising 120 points designed for registered nurses.

Requirements

Candidates for the PGDipHealSc must

  1. Be a graduate or possess an appropriate health professional qualification requiring at least three years' full-time tertiary study
  2. Hold a current Practising Certificate

Structure of the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences - Designated prescriber–registered nurse

Four compulsory papers (120 points)
  • NURS 405 Health Assessment and Advanced Nursing Practice (30 points)
  • NURS 416 Nursing - Applied Pharmacology (30 points)
  • NURS 427 Long-term Conditions - Pathophysiology and Management (30 points)
  • NURS 429 Therapeutics for Advanced Nursing Practice (prerequisites apply) (30 points)
    NURS 429 must be the final paper undertaken in the programme of study
