International students

The Department of Classics continues to offer a great experience for international students seeking the supervision of respected academics.

Studying in Dunedin offers a relaxed and positive environment in which those who are not native English speakers can improve their written and verbal communication in English.

In recent years postgraduate students in the department have come from a variety of countries, including Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Germany, and Italy.

The University of Otago has exchange agreements with 90 other institutions worldwide. For those students seeking to continue their degree in a different setting, we encourage you to take advantage of the exchange programme. In the past, the Department has welcomed exchange students from the USA and Germany.
