Jean Bessière
Jean Bessière received his education at the Sorbonne and Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris). He has taught at Université Paris X, Indiana University, Stanford University, McGill University, Université d'Amiens. He has acted as President of the International Comparative Literature Association. The following are a selection of the many publications he has authored: Dire le littéraire (1990), Enigmaticité de la littérature (1993), La littérature et sa rhétorique (1999), and Q uel statut pour la littérature (2001). He co-edited Histoire des poétiques (1987), and Théorie littéraire (1989). He is currently a Professor of Comparative Literature at the University Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris).
