Terms of Reference

The Mission Statement of the University of Otago’s web domain is

To provide a usable, informative and up-to-date online domain that represents and promotes the teaching, research, values and culture of the University of Otago.

Definition

The University of Otago’s web domain is defined as including any online information or service purporting to represent all, or part of, the University of Otago.

Terms of Reference

The Terms of Reference of the Web Advisory Committee are:

  1. To advise the Vice-Chancellor on the future direction of the University’s web domain;
  2. To review and recommend policies relating to the University’s web domain, including a common direction to web development throughout the University;
  3. To develop, on an ongoing basis, a strategy for the University’s web domain;
  4. To ensure users of the Otago web domain are provided with a consistent set of corporate information services;
  5. To arrange investigation of new World Wide Web (WWW) and other Information Technology (IT) developments / innovations, with a view to their suitability for the University’s web domain and recommend adoption where appropriate;
  6. To ensure that the quality of the University’s web presence promotes its identity and high international reputation.

Membership

  • Convener (independent)
  • A representative of the PVC of each academic division
  • The Director of Marketing and Communications or nominee
  • The Director of Academic Services or nominee
  • The Director of Information Technology Services or nominee
  • The University Librarian or nominee
  • The Head of Web Services in attendance
  • The right to co-opt other members from time to time
