Study Development Studies at Otago
This subject is not available in 2012.
Overview
The field of Development Studies is concerned with understanding and improving human well-being in a variety of settings, though primarily in the context of poor people living in poor countries. The Postgraduate Diploma in Arts Subjects (PGDipArts) / Master of Arts (MA) in Development Studies is an interdisciplinary degree, providing students with advanced training in the theory and practice of development and leading to a wide range of possible career options.
Students will undertake two core papers, and will be able to shape their degree by gaining additional knowledge and understanding from studying courses in fields such as International Health, Political Studies or Economics, contingent upon them satisfying the necessary prerequisites for these subjects. The programme provides an opportunity to research and write a supervised thesis on a topic chosen in consultation with a supervisor who has expertise in the field of study.
