Luke joined Cumberland College as Tautiaki in 2022.

He is an Otago graduate and has experience in a variety of previous roles within the University of Otago, including Tautiaki of other Colleges.

Luke has responsibility for the overall running of the College, including managing pastoral care and the welfare of residents.

The Tautiaki-Piki is an integral part of the management and pastoral care team.

Dasha assists the Tautiaki to oversee all aspects of the college.

She also leads the Kaiāwhina Whare | Sub-Warden team. Dasha has a centred focus on providing academic support to our residents and assists with all aspects of tauira hauora | wellness of life.

Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina | Assistant Wardens

Cumberland College has two Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina. The Tautiaki-Kaiāwhina support the staff team in resident pastoral care and hauora | wellness of life.

They also organise the College social calendar and the Inter-College Competition, so if you have ideas of fun college events, they are the team to see.

Emma is based at reception and will be your go-to person for college life queries.

She will be able to assist with parcel collection, accommodation fee payments, and any other general queries.

She is at reception between 8:30am and 5pm, Monday – Friday.

Evan is responsible for the overall management of the College buildings and grounds, including the running of college utilities, repairs, and maintenance.

The Cumberland Kitchen team is headed by Dylan, who has won numerous awards for his culinary abilities.

Keeping the college well-nourished is the goal and the friendly staff are happy to look after any dietary requirements or any other queries about kai.

Kaiāwhina Whare | Sub-Wardens

Kaiāwhina are senior students who have experience of residential and university life. They are the most visible peer role models and community leaders that our residents have the chance to regularly interact with during their first year at university.

Supportive, friendly, and knowledgeable our Kaiāwhina are a link to people and resources both within the University and the wider community. Kaiāwhina at Cumberland share their experiences with residents to help them, as they navigate and adjust to University and College life.

Dynamic and committed, they add great value to the Cumberland experience.
