in the garden butterflies

in the garden
   butterflies
are flitting
   mating
incandescent
   in the sun

white butterflies
   leafwings greenglowing
dying in the dance
   the flight
the lowing
   over the leaves
of curling sweet pea
   claws of velvet

lighting on leaf
to wrap legs about her

leg of sunlight
   leg of grassblade
wideflung falling
   wing of paleflame
uncloaked coupling
   on leaf of cabbage
