Andrew Reynolds, a PhD student in the Department of Human Nutrition and the Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) Centre, has been awarded the 2015 Young Researcher Award at the 33rd International Symposium of Diabetes and Nutrition in Toronto, Canada. Andrew gave two oral presentations at this meeting, one on fibre content in foods (on behalf of supervisor Professor Jim Mann), and the other on a Dunedin-based health trial considering the benefits of walking after eating.

Andrew also presented research findings at the American Diabetes Association 75th Scientific Session in Boston, Massachusetts. In this study, the diabetes community were questioned regarding their knowledge about, and engagement with, the Diabetes New Zealand physical activity guidelines. 'Our findings highlight the need for all levels of health care to get behind, and endorse, the physical activity and dietary guidelines for people living with type 2 diabetes' said Andrew.
