The annual Queenstown Research Week (QRW) is on tour this year, and two Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) members are invited speakers at the Metabolic Diseases satellite conference, focused on Diabetes and Obesity research.

Professor Dave Grattan, who specialises in neuroendocrine influences on appetite and body weight, will speak about novel signaling patterns in the brain in response to eating.

Professor Tony Merriman, from the Department of Biochemistry, will describe the search for genes causing gout in Maori and Pacific Island people.

Free Public Lecture: The science of sugar and fat

Professor Grattan and colleague Professor Peter Shepherd are giving a public presentation during QRW aimed at school aged children and the general public.  This free event will focus on the science behind sugar metabolism and its impact on our health.
