Radio Live's John MacDonald has interviewed Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research (EDOR) Director Professor Jim Mann about paleo diets and the value of consuming dairy products.  This follows a recent controversy in Australia in which celebrity chef Pete Evans was criticised by medical professionals for giving dietary and medication advice to his followers on social media, including suggesting a women with osteoporosis should give up dairy products.

A Professor in the Department of Human Nutrition at the University of Otago, Jim Mann says that dairy products are a good source of calcium, as well as other nutrients.  He suggests that unless there is a proven allergy to dairy products, they should form part of a healthy diet.  A good calcium intake is particularly important early in life for long-term bone health.
