Health Psychology

An active area of research in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Health Psychology focuses on how psychological and behavioural factors influence physical health, with the range of topics including chronic pain management, aggression and violence in healthcare, applications of mindfulness, and issues for carers.

Pain Management

The Department has several projects underway where we are investigating pain, including arthritis pain, shoulder pain, childbirth pain and pain education, with a variety of treatment options being trialled including mindfulness, gratitude, on-line, virtual reality and phone apps.
