Feedback on meritorious or concerning behaviours in medical students

The Otago Medical School values information on our medical students provided by patients, whanau, and members of the public, hospital staff, and university staff and students who are not directly involved in student education.

If you wish to raise an issue of concerning or meritorious actions you have observed in our medical students, please download and complete one of the Professional Behaviour reporting forms and forward as instructed:

Bequest of bodies

Otago Medical School relies on the altruistic action of the public to maintain its teaching of, and research into, human anatomy. The chief value of body bequests is for teaching anatomy to health science students, including medical students.

Acquiring a sound knowledge of the structure of the human body is possible only if medical students have access to human bodies for careful dissection and study.

Overseas doctors seeking registration in New Zealand

We receive many enquiries from overseas doctors about working in New Zealand.

In many countries, universities may have a role in assisting with registration and workforce employment. However, in New Zealand, such enquiries should be directed to the Medical Council of New Zealand:

Medical Council of New Zealand

It may be possible to obtain temporary registration for a specific period, to undertake supervised practice during residency training. You need to contact the Medical Council of New Zealand to discuss this.

Once you have temporary registration to practice medicine, you can seek an approved training post as a house surgeon or registrar in a health services hospital.
