Graduate Diploma in Teaching (GradDipTchg) in Early Childhood Teaching
Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Teaching (GradDipTchg) is a rigorous qualification for graduates who want to enter the exciting world of early childhood education. This is ideally suited to primary-qualified teachers who want to enter the early childhood sector, or graduates who want to gain an early childhood teaching qualification.
This is an intensive programme. Students need to have met a proportion of the outcomes prior to entry.
The Graduate Diploma in Teaching (GradDipTchg) is taught over one year. The programme is available in both Dunedin and Invercargill.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Primary teaching diploma or degree and provisional or full NZ teacher Registration
or
- An accredited degree, the content of which includes subjects pertinent to early childhood education, including completion of courses which cover the content of two of the following papers:
EDUC 101 Social Foundations of Education
EDUC 102 Human Development
EDUC 252 How People Learn
The third education paper must be completed prior to College graduation and can be studied concurrently.
