Study Te Pōkai Mātauranga o te Ao Rua
Overview
If you have a desire to develop your own knowledge in Te Ao Māori and are enthusiastic about the teaching and learning of children, you are encouraged to apply for either the Bachelor of Teaching (3 year programme) or Bachelor of Education Studies and consecutive Graduate Diploma in Education and Teaching (combined 4 year programme) endorsed in Te Pōkai Mātauranga o te Ao Rua (Primary Bilingual Education).
These programmes include components based in Te Ao Māori and are offered at the College of Education's Southland Campus at Invercargill.
A basic level of Te Reo is not required on application, but would be an advantage. You will acquire increased knowledge of Te Ao Māori during these programmes and be prepared to deliver the curriculum from a Māori perspective, using both English and Māori.
