Dr Barrie Peake
Dr Barrie Peake is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry
and is an environmental chemist with a particular research interest
in natural aquatic systems. He is currently involved in a number of
aquatic projects including the study of the discharge of petroleum
products via stormwater into the Otago Harbour; the interaction of
marine algal toxins and trace metals; chemical aspects of NZ rain;
and nitrate levels in the Leith catchment and the Taieri plains. This
research has involved him with staff from a number of regional councils,
the Dunedin City Council and the Department of Conservation. He has
also been the Minister for the Environment's representative in a number
of hearings for Special Resource Consents under the Resource Management
Act (1991).
