Prof Katharine Dickinson
Prof Katharine Dickinson is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of
Botany and Director of the Otago University Ecology degree programme.
She is also a member of the Board of Studies for the Environmental
Science Programme. She teaches in a range of courses in ecology and
co-ordinates two 4th year papers on offer to the Environmental Science
students - BTNY 469 Principles of Nature Conservation and BTNY 467
New Zealand Plant Ecology - Pure and Applied. These papers are wide
ranging in the material and are suitable for students from a variety
of backgrounds. Kath's research interests primarily involve community
ecology and conservation ecology, and she has a particular interest
in plant-animal interactions and non-forest ecosystems. She has research
experience in temperate to tropical environments which is reflected
in her publication record. Kath is also actively involved in the community,
being a current member of the New Zealand Conservation Authority amongst
other activities.
