Elizabeth Gregory Studentships and Bursary
The Elizabeth Gregory Studentships (1985) and the Elizabeth Gregory Bursary (1988) were established to commemorate the contribution of Dr. Elizabeth Gregory, OBE, MHSc (NZ), Ph.D. (London), Hon LLD (Otago), FNZIC, a staff member of the Faculty from 1925 to 1961 and Dean from 1941 to 1961.
Two or more studentships may be awarded by Council on the recommendation of the Board of the School of Consumer and Applied Sciences at the end of the year preceding commencement of postgraduate study. The award of the Studentship is subject to admission to the proposed postgraduate course, actual enrolment, and approval by Council.
The purpose of the Studentships is to encourage postgraduate study and research. Students who are proceeding from the degree of Bachelor of Home Science or Bachelor of Consumer and Applied Sciences (including BCApSc[Hons]) to the degree of Master of Consumer and Applied Sciences, or from the degree Master of Home Science or Master of Consumer and Applied Sciences to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, will be considered on merit. Awards are normally made to those candidates who are not recipients of other named awards of equivalent value and are not restricted to the first year of postgraduate study. The current value of the award is $750.
The Bursary is awarded to the student with the highest overall standard of attainment in the degree of Bachelor of Consumer and Applied Sciences, or Bachelor of Consumer and Applied Sciences with Honours, who enrolls for postgraduate study in the School of Consumer and Applied Sciences. The Bursary may be held with a University Senior Scholarship or award and is normally awarded for the first year of study only. The current value of the award is $500.
