100 Level French Papers

Enrolment in any French paper depends on approval from the Programme Coordinator. This will ensure that you are studying at the level which is appropriate for your skills.

If you want to major in French you will need to take either FREN 131 and FREN 132 (if you have had a little or no previous study of French) or FREN 232 and FREN 233 (if you have studied French for more than three years at secondary school level) in your first year.

Beginners who major in French take the introductory French papers FREN 131 and FREN 132 in their first year and FREN 232 and FREN 233 in their second year of study.

All language acquisition papers beyond 100-level include a weekly oral class with a native speaker of French.
