Genetics Otago Photography Competition 2010

Be in to win an Olympus camera!

Applications are invited for the Genetics Otago Photography competition.

The competition is open to all members of Genetics Otago and Genetics students. Subject matter of entries must be in some way connected to the study of Genetics at the University of Otago. We encourage entrants to be creative, and submit images that are eye-catching and interesting.

Any type of photography technique is acceptable. This includes the use of traditional film/digital cameras or scientific equipment such as light or electron microscopes. Images may be digitally enhanced or manipulated, but details of such enhancement must be specified with the entry.

Rules

  1. Entrants must hold the copyright for their image(s).
  2. Images submitted must be of the highest quality possible and be in .psd, .tif or .jpg format. Conversion to .jpg format should be avoided if the images are originally in another format, as .jpg files reduce the quality of images.
  3. If photographs feature people, permission must be gained from the subjects before the photograph can be submitted to the competition.
  4. By entering the competition, you give Genetics Otago permission to use the images for promotion and administrative purposes.

How to enter

Entries should be emailed to Tamsin Jones (tamsin.jones@otago.ac.nz). Please include the following information:

  1. Name of entrant
  2. Title of photograph
  3. Details of photography, eg the equipment and camera used to capture the image.
  4. A description of the subject and its relevance to your research or to Genetics at Otago (200 words or less).
  5. Any alterations made to the image, eg in Photoshop or similar image manipulation software.
