Genomics research at Genetics Otago

Bioinformatics is key to making genomic discoveries. At Genetics Otago, our world-class experts specialise in analysing genomic data and developing new tools to analyse genomes and transcriptomes. Using bioinformatics, they have participated in the genome sequencing of aphids, bees, platypus, sheep, and many different microbes.

Our researchers also using next generation sequencing techniques to sequence new genomes for transcriptomics and epigenetic studies.

They have considerable experience in the use of microarray technologies for transcriptomics, gene discovery, and complex disease genetics; and in genome annotation and assembly.

Meanwhile our genome mining studies focus on genes, transposons, and SNPs.

These studies provide new information about all aspects of genetics, and generate useful tools for biology-based industries.
