Elaine Emmerson

Senior Genetics Technician

Elaine has been with the Biochemistry Department since 1990 and is responsible for the genetics labs since the programme began in 2000. As senior technician for the Genetics programme, Elaine is responsible for managing all technical requirements for teaching laboratories and practicals.

Elaine's position requires the day to day co-ordination of all GENE 200-level and 300-level practical sessions, including the preparation and testing of all materials and the developing and testing of new practicals when changes to papers are made.

Elaine also writes and provides procedures and protocols for the practical classes, supervises 3rd year students' group projects and assists with school visits, including Hands-on Science.
