Senior Teaching Fellow, Genetics Teaching Programme

Gillian is the contact person for Genetics students if they have any questions or problems.

She lectures in GENE 221 Molecular and Microbial Genetics and teaches laboratories in GENE 221 Molecular and Microbial Genetics, GENE 222 Genes, Chromosomes and Populations, GENE 223 Developmental and Applied Genetics, GENE 311 Genetic Analysis of Eukaryotes and GENE 313 Medical Genetics. Gillian is the Genetics Hands-On Science project leader. She is also the Genetics Kaiāwhina and Genetics Disability support person.

Gillian grew up in Scotland and completed her BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees at the University of Edinburgh. Her PhD specialized in Developmental Genetics and Reproductive Biology. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a year in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Otago and has been the Genetics Senior Teaching Fellow since 2005.
