Emeritus Professor George Petersen

Emeritus Professor George Petersen has devoted over 50 years to the study of DNA, pioneering the development of methods to determine its sequence, and then to understand its significance for biology. He nurtured the development of DNA research within New Zealand science and established the initial regulatory scheme for the use of genetic engineering in New Zealand. He is acknowledged as New Zealand's 'father of DNA'.
