GEOL302: Advanced Field Studies - Swinburn
Fri 12th - Mon 22nd February 2010


The summer mapping field school is an essential part of GEOL 302, and is a prerequisite for graduation in Geology. Field school will consist of three exercises during the two weeks before classes begin, from Friday 12th February returning Monday 22th February 2010. All exercises take place in the Swinburn area, at the edge of the Maniototo basin. NB: Those also enrolled in GEOL 351 will first attend a field exercise in the Catlins run by Dr Virginia Toy. This group will leave the North door at 9am Monday 8th February 2010, and will be returned from the Catlins to Dunedin ~ midday on Thursday 11th February.

Students enrolled in GEOL 302, but NOT GEOL 351 party will leave the department on:
Friday 12th February 2010, at 9.30 am , from the North door of the Geology Building

 

IF ALSO ENROLLED IN GEOL 351, Depart:
Monday 8th February 2010, 9 am, from the North door

 Accommodation will be basic, as we aim to keep the accommodation and food costs as low as possible. Hence, tents may be required. Food cost approx $130 (exact cost to be confirmed)

Those intending to enrol for Geology 302, Field Studies 2 are asked to notify the Department as soon as possible after their examination results are published and preferably before the Friday 8th of January 2010
