JEOL JXA-8600 electron microprobe analyser
The Department of Geology operates a JEOL 8600 electron microprobe capable of quantitative and qualitative elemental analysis and secondary-electron, back-scattered electron and cathodo-luminescence imaging of solid materials, both natural and synthetic. The laboratory provides research and teaching services for staff and students of the Department of Geology as well as for researchers from various departments within the University of Otago, other universities, Crown Research Institutes and industry.
