Policy and guildelines out for consultation.

Field activities policy and guidelines consultation

The field work policy and guidelines were initially drafted to include remote field work and international travel.   Following wider consultation, it was identified that the guidelines needed to also include home/community based field work, international travel involving risk activities and urban based field work.  Andrea McMillan has since worked with smaller interest groups to develop the draft guidelines to meet these needs, and have incorporated these into the draft document.

The policy and guidelines are now ready for wider consultation (see documents below). Please feel free to review, comment and critique  as necessary and forward to interested people within your Department. The key changes required are outlined in the policy, and the guidelines provide the means of compliance with the policy.  These guidelines are based on current practices across the University and provide templates for use by departments. These forms and templates will be available through the web page.

Andrea would also be interested to know if there is a desire to have an on-line field work booking System University wide where departments could lodge their plans.

Andrea is happy to attend any meetings if there are questions relating to the drafts, and is also happy to meet with individuals if required.  Individuals (or groups) can email Andrea ( andrea.mcmillan@otago.ac.nz ) their responses, or hard copy with notes as required, by 1 December 2011.
