Research

I am a member of a small group of statisticians dedicated to providing statistical advice to people involved with health research. We provide advice on the design of studies, including sample size calculations, analysis of data, interpretation of results and assistance with preparation of papers for submission to journals.

I have worked as a statistician in various guises since 1990. I have worked with official statistics, hospital data and done a lot of analyses related to wildlife. I have also taught statistics at first and second year level. More recently, my PhD (completed in 2009) investigated the use of open population capture-recapture models to estimate diabetes prevalence and incidence in Otago. Since then the biggest project I have worked on has been to develop a risk assessment tool for melanoma specific to New Zealand.

I have been in this consulting role since late August 2011 and am open to any problems that come my way.
