Research

My research focuses on biological consequences of agricultural intensification on childhood growth at the prehistoric site of Ban Non Wat in Northeast Thailand. The so-called bioarchaeological model of health change suggests that health deteriorated as agriculture intensified. This pattern, however, was not seen in previous works in SE Asia. The aim of my research is to test the applicability of the model using infant and childhood growth as a proxy to examine changes in population health as agriculture intensified over time at the site of Ban Non Wat.
