Research

My expertise is in examining the effects of oxidative stress on cell signalling, function and survival. I am currently investigating the effects of oxidant exposure on the endothelium with a particular interest in the role of oxidants in cell death pathways (apoptosis and necroptosis).

I also work with Professor Vissers investigating the role of ascorbate (vitamin C) in health and disease. Finally, together with Professor Vissers and Associate Professor Peter Sykes, I am using a model of ovarian cancer to investigate the chemotherapeutic properties of plant extracts (resveratrol, epigallocatechin gallate and vitamin C).
