Research

Beverley's research interests include self-management for wellness and women's health with an emphasis on discourses of sexed bodies and body politics. She utilises postmodern and poststructural methodologies, particularly Foucauldian geneological method.

Beverley's PhD research topic is titled 'Intervention and (Re)Invention for women in menopause: Cultural norms, hormone therapy and female subjectivity.' Interview with women and analysis of published texts in this genealogical study identified contested discourses on pharmaceuticals, what counts as therapy and quality of life.

Other projects include investigating women's experiences of hormone therapy after surgical menopause, a content analysis of media texts on hormone therapies and trialling educational interventions for enhancing self-management of long term conditions with older adults.
