Māori and Pacific Student Support

International

The Division of Humanities is strongly committed to the internationalisation of its teaching and research. This has been achieved through the establishment of long-term relationships with prestigious partner universities for the purposes of research collaboration and staff and student interchange. The Division provides traveling/exchange scholarships to assist Otago students to study overseas for periods of up to one year as part of their Otago degree, and also hosts Study Abroad students from a variety of countries.

The University of Otago is the first University in New Zealand to institute a formal In-Country study programme for all students studying a foreign language for the BA Honours degree. Students majoring in Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish are provided with the opportunity to pursue a programme of study for one semester in language immersion at one of a number of specially designated partner universities in Latin America, Europe, or Asia. Host destinations can be found in Asia an the Pacific, Europe and North and South America.
